Starting point are some second hand containers which have before served as provisional hospital rooms. These containers will now be set up on the beach near Castricum every year in spring and taken down in autumn.
Due to the temporary character of the structure and the DIY approach of the owner, we proposed simple, rough and inexpensive materials and building techniques, combined with some more refined elements. Inside the floor and furniture are untreated wood, and the contrasting green wallpaper has jellyfish motifs. At the back of the room, the glossy ceiling folds down onto the floor and defines a lounge area. Betonplex frames around the windows emphasize the view onto the dunes.
Outside, white wood panels provide a neutral background for the wooden furniture and the colorful beach crowd.
