Project description:

The motorway around Brussels runs through the hills like a landart project: Sometimes, it forms an incision in the hills, elsewhere it runs on a dike, offering a wide view over the landscape.

The construction of sound walls will add more barriers to the landscape and impede the relation between road and surroundings. We suggest a cheap, industrial product, which can be overgrown with plants and will melt into the landscape. Only in one place, at the end of a street, the wall transforms itself into a clearly visible landmark: a lookout which sticks out of the embankment between the trees.

A pattern of LED lights on the window, connected to a microphone and working as a kind of equalizer, will make the traffic sounds visible instead of audible.
